Elma has a vibrant business community anchored by large firms like Moog Valve, Steuben Foods, and Servotronics. Its heart is a retail plaza in the center of Town, several restaurants scattered throughout the Town, and many small businesses that provide residents with a multitude of services.
While farming has been the backbone of agriculture, horse farms are becoming more prevalent. Nurseries and greenhouse operations also provide great greenery and color, they also provide the stock for several larger nurseries in the area. The people of Elma like to refer to there town as the Heart of Erie County as it’s location is pretty central just East of the City of Buffalo.
Elma has rolling hills and borders Aurora and Lancaster to east South and North then West Seneca to it’s West. Known for its large lots and limited residential developments, Elma prides itself on its country quiet feel, yet within 20-minutes to the Buffalo waterfront on Lake Erie.
